Christmas update

We should have water later today… kitchen gets fitted later on – plus the boiler should be up and running so this will mean we have underfloor heating.

Over the weekend we had the chimney fitted for the wood burning stove… 🙂

… Christmas may be back on…

As my wife loves a challenge she has decided that we may have a Christmas lunch at the new abode after all.

We currently have electricity but lack:

  • Water
  • Gas
  • Drainage
  • A kitchen!
  • WC and whb
  • furniture

Nevertheless she has a team of workmen dedicated to getting these all sorted by… Next Monday… that’s 6 days!

Will update as we get closer…. 🙂

Update 14:32 … we have a drainage and water pipe trench 🙂

and an hour later….

Christmas is cancelled

Ok, so not exactly cancelled but our plans to have a nice Christmas lunch in our new home have failed. No gas until February means we are going to use bottled gas for heating – and cooking but the drainage guy has let us down the most.

In Ukraine you can only carry out drainage work in the street if you are licensed and its basically a cartel. So, the companies cherry pick their jobs and charge what they want. Ours is difficult to get hold of and basically does not want the work… it’s all too much effort for not a lot of money.

So, we will move into the house in late January – and enjoy Christmas at a restaurant. A shame but we have achieved so much this year – and that has largely been down to my tenacious wife.
