A new project!

The house is long finished and let out leaving us to settle down in the UK. We’ve moved to Liverpool and the kids have settled into school – there’s even a trace of a Scouse accent.

Looking back on my experiences in Ukraine usually brings out a smile because of the comic situations I found myself in. So, I thought it may be time to share these and many of the other amusing stories I’ve encountered during a decade living, working and playing in Ukraine.

A book is underway with the working title of “Telling Tales” and I’ve set myself a target of having it written and published by my next birthday – March 31st 2021.

So, if Ukraine is your homeland, temporary nest or place on your bucket list to visit … why not subscribe and I’ll keep you posted of progress.

Come and join me for the ride.

House for rent

NOW RENTED

We’ve decided to move back to the UK for our children’s education so the house will be available for rent from December 2017. It’s 250sqm, 3 bedroom with a great garden and barbeque area.

Main attractions:

  • It’s very quiet at the end of a small road – yet only 20 minutes by car to the centre of Kyiv. No neighbours on three sides so you can do what you want – when you want.
  • The bus stops a hundred metres away and goes past Libidskaya Metro 10 minutes later.
  • This is a bespoke house with contemporary open-plan design built into the side of a hill overlooking the Dnieper. It’s different.
  • Log burning stove generally heats the whole house in winter but otherwise it has underfloor heating to lower floor and radiators to the top floor

Move in … and Goodbye!

IMAG1794

Well, we did it. 361 days in total… Just short of 4 days before a year had passed since we started work ….. we moved in to our brand new house. There have been trials and tribulations along the way… but notably the best house-warming present of all was our twins: Astrid and David.

In between feeds Anya (who was the driving force throughout to get the builders moving) is sorting out the garden… and we are starting to unpack and begin our new life.

If you want advice on building your own home in Ukraine please feel free to drop me a line glyn @ ace123.com

But, for now… It’s “Goodbye!”

This blog, like our “Mooxa” the Moskvitch … is parked.
